The person who made these works is Eric Elms, a New York based artist. The character that is always seen in every frame is Kilroy. Kilroy is a popular street character, often seen in graffiti.
The pieces are quite minimalistic but they are very interesting. I think that the use of a popular icon such as Kilroy and infusing it with famous and iconic logos is a representation on how the street culture and famous brands and companies influence each other to create products. Eric Elms is a good example for this. Several companies tie up with him to create one of a kind products that will connect to people like him. Vans is one of these brands. In fact, he had the opportunity to design shoes for Vans under the OTW line. He is also in partnership with another street wear brand, Stussy.

Wonder who made this cool Batman artwork?
The person whom VANS Half Cab is named after, Steve Caballero!
I am surprised on how artistic he really is. I am also surprised with the colors and the subject he used for this particular piece. The guy is already in his late 40’s but his youthful mind is still present. He is enjoying life and I really aspire that when I reach that age.

I am really interested with this kind of art. I wish I could sketch like this!

3 of the things that I am interested are on the photo.
1. Sneakers
2. Drums
3. Customized stuff
My interest in sneakers started when I was very young. I love it because it is really comfortable and durable. Also, there are a lot of designs and styles to choose from. (I also like the smell of a newly opened box of pair of shoes. Hmmmm… :p)
I started playing drums when I was around 13 years old. At first, my mom did not agree with this but after some drama, she realized that there is nothing wrong about this. I enjoy playing it, especially when musicians accompany me. I love the feeling of creating music and harmony through an instrument that is perceived as something noisy.
Lately, I do not play drums as much as I do before. One of the reasons might be because I do not have a permanent band. I still have some kind of connection with the instrument and people I see playing it.
Customized stuff can be anything as long as it’s unique. The idea of being the only one or only few people have it really entice me to buy these things (as long as I can afford it). I think that it is really a very good marketing strategy that a lot of brands/companies are using(PRESTIGE). It does not just urge people to buy but it also support artists who are underrated.
Though the artist who made this does not work under any brand, she knows how to use her talent wisely. (More about the artist on my future blogs)
VANS slip-on pair of shoes was used as canvas for the work.
If you want to see more of her work or you want to have customized shoes go to her website http://www.slipoffs.com
